2023 has seen the introduction of our “Mini Demons” for prep-grade 3 kids. At halftime of the seniors at every home game, we play a short 15-20 minute scratch match for the kids to help introduce them into our football system.
The kids just need to meet in the home change rooms at quarter time of the senior game in their football attire (just wear your favourite football jumper) and we’ll do the rest! After a wet and muddy but VERY successful first game at half time of our Round 2 game at Gellibrand against the Eagles we can confirm that our “Mini Dees” half-time games will become a regular occurrence this season.
Featuring many sons and daughters of guns, the first game was a resounding success. Some great skills were on show. Around 15 kids aged between 5 and 10 braved the elements and slogged out a showcase game which had the crowd on its feet. All the kids enjoyed themselves and are sure to be back for the next home game against Birre round 4. Anyone who has kids in this age bracket are encouraged to bring them along for a game, just meet in the home rooms at ¼ time of the seniors. We are encouraging kids from the teams we play against to also join in. So we are expecting a big following throughout the year.
